Salary: £109,725 – £145,478 PA, pro rata

We are looking for a dedicated General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist to join Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust. This post is based at Tameside Hospital with the North CMHT based at Trust HQ. The service operates in a sectorised model and is staffed by three Consultants. Please see the Job Description.

This is an exciting time to join the Trust, with opportunities to contribute to service development and redesign. Tameside has a strong teaching commitment and candidates will be expected to contribute to the teaching of medical and nursing staff and 4th year medical students. There are close links with ongoing research projects. Consultants contribute to local service user & carer groups.


Main duties of the job

To provide high-quality mental health care for working-aged adults with severe and enduring mental health problems, both inpatient and outpatient. To work closely with North CMHT to ensure coherent and high-quality mental health care.

To work with the other Consultants to support the development of the service and to attend local and divisional service development meetings. Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register or eligible for inclusion or be within six months of the anticipated award of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Adult Psychiatry at the time of interview for the post.

Qualifications

* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
* Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
* Additional clinical qualifications


ELIGIBILITY

* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months
* Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
* Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
* In good standing with GMC with respect to warnings and conditions on practice


TRANSPORT

* Holds and will use a valid UK driving licence OR provides evidence of proposed alternative


CLINICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

* Excellent knowledge in specialty
* Excellent clinical skills using a bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
* Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
* Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others
* Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
* Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service


ACADEMIC SKILLS & LIFELONG LEARNING

* Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training; ability to work in and lead a team
* Demonstrate commitment to shared leadership & collaborative working to deliver improvement
* Participated in continuous professional development
