About the Role
An exciting opportunity to apply your research skills to collect intelligence and develop expertise at the convergence of cybercrime and cryptoassets. This role will focus on identifying and monitoring cryptoasset use connected to terrorism and sanctions.
Impact of the Role:
As a Senior Crypto Threat Analyst at Elliptic, your in-depth research on cryptoasset-related sanctions and terrorist activity will help financial and government institutions screen transactions and prevent financial crime.
Sitting within our Intelligence function, you will help build our best-in-class dataset that is collected across the open and dark web. Your contributions will form our ground truth dataset, the most fundamental building block that defines our understanding of low-risk and high-risk crypto wallets - helping hundreds of our customers, every day.
Your insights will form the basis of client-facing research, intelligence briefings, and marketing content, solidifying Elliptic's position as a thought leader and ensuring a more secure future for the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
What you will do:
* Ensure Elliptic maintains a deep understanding of terrorist and sanctioned use of cryptoassets
* Source and collect data in collaboration with the Intelligence Collection team
* Analyse blockchain activity connected to terrorism and sanctions
* Produce and deliver intelligence reports and briefings
* Manage collaborative research projects with internal stakeholders and/or external partners.
* Lead on the production of blogs, research reports and other marketing materials.
* Attend industry events to showcase Elliptic’s research to current and prospective clients.
* Maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and industry partners
* Use Elliptic’s tools and other resources to investigate blockchain activity
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
You will be a great fit here if you:
* Love researching and applying better practices to drive process improvement
* Love collaborating with others to solve problems
* Are curious about how terrorist and sanctioned entities use crypto and blockchain technology
Our ideal candidate has:
* Subject matter expertise in terrorism financing or sanctions is highly desirable
* 4+ years experience as an intelligence analyst or investigator in a similar role within law enforcement or crypto/banking/compliance
* Excellent writing and verbal communication skills - the ability to distil complex concepts and data into concise explanations
* Open source and dark web research skills
* An understanding of legal considerations when researching terrorist and sanctioned entities
* Experience with crypto or within the crypto industry
Bonus points:
* A technical understanding of cryptoassets and blockchains
* Experience with blockchain analytics tools
