Support your local community by becoming a School Crossing Patrol Officer at Pear Tree Mead Primary School, Pear Tree Mead, Harlow. Your role will involve assisting children to cross safely during morning and afternoon school times.
About the Role
This position involves approximately 6.40 hours per week, including a holiday pay element. You should be available during the 39-week academic year, working for about 35 minutes in the morning (08:30 - 09:05) and 45 minutes in the afternoon (14:45 - 15:30), depending on site needs. Uniform, equipment, and training will be provided.
Responsibilities
1. Consider the needs of people with disabilities, especially those with mobility impairments.
2. Maintain regular contact with the schools served by the crossing.
3. Assess risks at the crossing site and report issues to your supervisor.
4. Assist in preparing reports on accidents or incidents at the crossing.
5. Keep all provided equipment and uniform in good condition and request replacements when necessary.
6. Signal clearly to drivers when stopping traffic and ensure pedestrians are safe to cross.
