With over 40 years of experience and a strong national presence, our client is known for delivering dependable container transport solutions across the UK. From their well-established Ipswich depot, they’re now looking for an experienced Traffic Planner to oversee the day-to-day operation of 45 container vehicles Key Responsibilities * Route Planning: * Plan and optimize daily transport schedules and delivery routes for a fleet of vehicles. * Ensure loads are assigned to the most efficient and cost-effective routes. * Driver Coordination: * Allocate drivers to jobs based on availability, working hours, and legal compliance. * Brief drivers on schedules, load details, and special instructions. * Operational Support: * Monitor live traffic and vehicle movement using GPS or transport management systems (TMS). * Make real-time changes to plans in response to delays, breakdowns, or last-minute requests. * Communication: * Liaise with customers, warehouse teams, and drivers to ensure smooth operations and accurate ETAs. * Handle calls and queries from drivers and provide support throughout their routes. * Compliance: * Ensure all planning adheres to legal driving hours, Working Time Directive, and company policies. * Keep accurate records of planning activities for audit and reporting purposes. * System Management: * Use TMS or planning software to create and update transport schedules. * Input and maintain transport data accurately in internal systems. Required Qualifications & Experience * Experience in transport, traffic, or logistics planning (minimum 3-5 years preferred). * Familiarity with Truckcom, GPS tracking, or route planning software. * Knowledge of transport legislation and driver hour regulations. * Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel). Desirable Qualifications (Optional) * CPC (or working towards) is an advantage. * Experience with HGV / LGV fleet operations. * Background in a similar sector such as FMCG, haulage, or 3PL logistics
