Job Summary
The Crouse Hinds (Global Energy Infrastructure Solutions) division is part of Eaton's electrical sector and has over 125 years of experience in protecting people, processes and assets in the most challenging environments. Our strategic focus is on driving growth, leveraging innovation and building capability across our global network towards a diverse customer base – end‑users, EPCs, integrators, OEMs and distributors. Eaton's manufacturing plant in Sutton in Ashfield designs and manufactures alarm, signal, control and notification equipment used in harsh environmental conditions.
Responsibilities
* Manages and directs the site in achieving EHS targets and objectives. Directs development, maintenance, and achievement of goals in support of corporate and business group EHS strategic initiatives.
* Facilitates risk assessment at the location to identify critical EHS hazards and aspects. Works as part of the leadership team to create targets and objectives to reduce risk and environmental impact.
* Determines appropriate leading and lagging indicators to track performance against targets and objectives.
* Supports the creation of EHS goals for the site manager and appropriate activity‑based goals for the leadership team, functional managers, and front‑line supervisors to drive EHS culture, compliance, and results.
* Supports the plant manager in the assignment of MESH element champions and facilitates their engagement in ownership of the MESH elements.
* Drives and promotes a zero‑incident EHS culture throughout the site.
* Creates and facilitates EHS engagement through EHS teams and committees needed to accomplish the established targets and objectives for the year.
* Works with the leadership team and MESH element champions to complete an annual evaluation of compliance for EHS country, state, and local regulations.
* Pursues third‑party recognition for programs that establish the site and Eaton's EHS program as world class.
* Uses established EHS data processes such as MESH Suite to manage data such as injuries and illnesses, environmental metrics, risk assessments, EHS action items and other pertinent information.
* Creates training matrices to ensure that all training is defined and tracked to completion.
* Works with site leadership team and facilities to ensure that all key EHS operational controls are in place on a preventive maintenance program, and that EHS action items are resolved on a timely basis.
Qualifications
* Degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental discipline or equivalent.
* Advanced degree (Master's level or beyond) recommended.
* Professional certification recommended (Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, or country equivalent where available).
* Extensive experience in one or more of the applied areas and proven experience working in a business or manufacturing setting.
* Expert knowledge of industry, country, and local environmental, health, and safety requirements.
* Working knowledge of cross‑functional EHS disciplines.
* Understanding of manufacturing technologies and processes.
* Ability to speak English; other languages preferred depending on the specific position.
* Ability to demonstrate managerial courage (e.g., managing varied interests representing potential conflicts), and effective oral, written and interpersonal skills.
* Exceptional team‑building skills and demonstrated ability to lead through influence at all levels inside and outside the company.
* Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage a large number of disparate projects and to track projects through completion.
