Job Overview
Duty Shift Manager – Ashford Engineering Depot. Lead, develop and support teams and individuals to build a high‑performing workforce capable of achieving depot objectives and continuously improving processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure shift production output and service provision targets are met for all rolling stock maintenance activities and wider depot operations.
* Develop, implement and monitor depot KPI’s.
* Ensure all teams operate in accordance with company procedures, using required engineering systems.
* Assess, motivate, train and develop staff to maintain an effective workforce; manage competency shortfalls and implement training plans.
* Develop and introduce rosters to meet workload.
* Attend relevant depot meetings during duty and ensure actions are logged, communicated and acted upon.
Qualifications
* Experience managing large teams in engineering or related roles.
* Strong understanding of engineering rules and regulations.
* Minimum of 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
* Engineering qualification Level 3 or above.
* ILM Level 3 (working toward Level 5).
* Safety management training – NEBOSH or equivalent (minimum IOSH and working toward NEBOSH).
