Solent Infrastructure – Full Time, Permanent
We are on the lookout for a dynamic Infrastructure Engineer or Assistant Engineer to join our rapidly growing Infrastructure Engineering team in our Solent Office. What We Are Looking For
We are seeking a talented and proactive individual who can contribute to our growing team by delivering high-quality support across a range of civil engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have the ability to think creatively, a keen eye for detail, and a willingness to learn and grow professionally. The role involves working alongside experienced engineers with the preparation of technical drawings and plans, providing input on design elements, developing infrastructure solutions, producing CAD drawings, and contributing to practical and efficient designs. Knowledge of Infrastructure best practice and standards, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively are essential. You should have experience with AutoCAD (or similar CAD software) and be comfortable working from sketches, mark-ups, and specifications.
You will show a willingness to learn, grow professionally, and take on increasing responsibility within the team.
Your Areas of Knowledge and Expertise
* HNC / BSc / BEng / MEng in Civil Engineering or related subject.
* At least 1 year of relevant work experience.
* Consultancy/private sector development background with a desire towards private sector development work.
* An understanding of UK highway design principles.
* Knowledge of UK design codes, standards and guidance for both private and adoptable highways (e.g., Manual for Streets, Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Local Authority design standards, Building Regulations).
* Demonstrable experience delivering Section 38 and 278 highway drawings for planning, tender and construction.
* Numerate and software literate with working knowledge of AutoCAD to create 2D technical drawings.
* Knowledge of 3D design packages (e.g., Site 3D or Civils 3D) – training can be provided if not already familiar.
* Ability to undertake a supporting role for both minor and major projects, including independently handling less complex tasks and managing workload.
* Ability to work under supervision with professional judgment to identify and analyse issues, research information, and inform strategies or responses to issues with supported recommendations.
Responsibilities
You will contribute to the team by producing technical drawings and plans, supporting engineers across projects, and helping develop infrastructure solutions. You will work with the engineering team to produce CAD drawings and contribute to innovative, practical, and efficient designs. You will collaborate with others to ensure designs meet standards and client requirements.
