Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Registered Paediatric Nurses to join our dynamic Accident & Emergency (A&E) team based in Surrey. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, family-centred care to infants, children, and young people presenting with acute and emergency conditions.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that the child's physical, emotional, and developmental needs are met at all times.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide safe, effective, and evidence-based nursing care to children and young people attending A&E.
* Perform triage assessments, recognising and prioritising patients according to clinical need.
* Assist in stabilisation and resuscitation of critically ill or injured children alongside the emergency team.
* Administer medications and treatments in line with Trust policies and NMC standards.
* Support and communicate effectively with families and carers, providing reassurance and information.
* Work collaboratively with doctors, advanced nurse practitioners, play specialists, and other allied health professionals.
* Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the child's health records.
* Contribute to maintaining a safe environment and compliance with infection prevention and control standards.
* Participate in clinical audits, training, and quality improvement initiatives within the department.
* Undertake regular clinical supervision and participate in professional development activities.
* Uphold Trust values and ensure safeguarding of children and vulnerable families at all times.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
* Registered Children's Nurse (RSCN/RN (Child)) with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
* Evidence of post-registration experience in an acute or paediatric setting (including placements).
* Excellent clinical assessment and communication skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a busy, high-pressure emergency environment.
* Commitment to continuing professional development.
Desirable:
* Previous experience in Paediatric A&E or Paediatric Assessment Unit.
* PILS (Paediatric Immediate Life Support) or APLS training.
* Knowledge of Safeguarding Children procedures.
* Mentorship or practice assessor qualification.
