Futures Recruitment are looking to appoint an experienced Production Manager to oversee manufacturing operations within a fast-paced engineering environment. This role is responsible for leading production teams, coordinating complex manufacturing schedules, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
The successful candidate will play a key role in driving operational efficiency, developing production processes, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Candidates should ideally have experience within electrical infrastructure, power distribution equipment, switchgear, or similar industrial manufacturing environments.
This is a leadership role requiring strong people management skills, operational oversight, and the ability to work cross-functionally to support project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the production team to achieve targets relating to efficiency, quality, safety, and cost.
Coordinate manufacturing activities for large-scale engineering or infrastructure projects, ensuring delivery in line with project timelines and budgets.
Plan and manage production schedules and workload forecasting to optimise output and resource utilisation.
Develop and maintain a flexible labour resource structure to manage fluctuations in production demand.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure the smooth flow of materials and products through the manufacturing process.
Monitor production performance against KPIs, ensuring on-time-in-full (OTIF) delivery.
Identify and report non-conformances, production overruns, and resource discrepancies, implementing corrective actions where required.
Lead daily production meetings and deliver toolbox talks to maintain clear communication across the team.
Ensure the production function has the necessary skills, manpower, equipment, and tooling to meet operational objectives.
Promote a continuous improvement and right-first-time culture across manufacturing operations.
Analyse production challenges and implement practical solutions to improve efficiency and productivity.
Lead and promote a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with all health and safety standards.
Lead, mentor, and develop the production team, including supervisors and apprentices.
Identify skills gaps and training needs, supporting employee development and maintaining training records.
Foster a positive and collaborative team environment with clear communication and shared goals.
Conduct performance reviews, employee meetings, and development discussions in line with company policy.
Requirements
Proven experience in a Production Manager or senior manufacturing leadership role.
Background within engineering, electrical infrastructure, power distribution, switchgear, or related industrial sectors is highly desirable.
Strong experience in production planning, workforce management, and process improvement.
Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.
Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
