This role is critical in ensuring that their complex marine handling systems meet strict quality, safety, and compliance standards throughout the design, manufacturing, and delivery lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Produce and maintain welding and painting documentation in accordance with customer specifications, classification society requirements, and international standards.
Support the creation and implementation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), including coordination of inspection points, hold/witness stages, and sign-off processes.
Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Project Management to ensure quality requirements are defined and integrated throughout the design and production lifecycle.
Support the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process, including root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions using structured problem-solving methods (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys).
Act as a quality representative during Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), customer inspections, and third-party verification activities.
Analyse quality performance data to identify trends, support continuous improvement initiatives, and escalate risks or issues where appropriate.
Support compliance with the business management system and promote alignment with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) standards and procedures.
Support BOM Creation, Gated Design Reviews, and the Product Introduction Processes.
Job Requirements:
Degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related technical field.
Experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes, ideally in marine, defence, or high-integrity sectors.
Familiarity with standards including ISO 9001, AQAP-2110/2015, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
Knowledge of ship classification society rules and their application to marine systems.
Competency in quality tools and techniques (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams).
Experience with audit processes and quality management systems (e.g., DRACAS, PLM platforms).
Certified ISO 9001 Internal Auditor or willingness to become certified.
Must have the right to work in the UK.
Desirable Skills:
Experience with Replenishment at Sea (RAS) systems or other mechanical/marine handling equipment.
Exposure to defence industry standards, inspections, and customer compliance protocols.
Familiarity with LEAN, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience supporting engineering-led quality processes (e.g., design assurance, validation testing).
