About Us
The New Forest Agricultural Show Society was founded in 1920.
Our Charitable remit is
To promote and encourage the development and improvement of agriculture, horticulture, forestry, equestrianism and rural crafts in all their branches; generally, to encourage and promote improvement in the breeding of stock; to advance education in the above.
The main fundraising activity is to hold the New Forest & Hampshire County Show, this event takes place over 3 days in July and on average attracts 80,000 visitors. This role is primarily to support the activities allowing the Show to continue to be a success.
It is envisaged that this role will require an amount of attendance at meetings that will run outside of normal office hours.
The role
You will be responsible for the following areas
· Livestock
· Old Time Farming
· Ticket sales
Background and Experience
Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask and keep calm are required. A professional manner and the ability to deal with people from a diverse background is paramount to making a success of this role.
The ideal candidate will ideally come from a farming and or agricultural background and have a thorough understanding of the requirements around "showing cattle" at a public event and be up to date with DEFRA regulations.
You will likely have come from a busy office environment where you worked closely with your colleagues and are happy to pitch in when required. Full training will be provided.
Specific Accountabilities
Tickets
Manage Group tickets and respond to queries
Oversee essential companion applications and send tickets via system
Oversee workshop bookings on ticket system
Respond to public sale enquiries
Livestock
· Organise volunteers for the show relevant to the above sections
· Working with Marketing on the contents of the livestock schedule and catalogue
· In conjunction with show team and others agree on categories for entry and fees for the Livestock entries
· Ensure all legal compliance in regard to the showing of livestock are adhered to.
· To promote the other areas in terms of entrants into competitions
· Appoint judges with the appropriate knowledge and integrity for the relevant categories.
· Organising of awards – certificates, rosettes, trophies, liaising with marketing on promotion
· Finalise section layout including penning, wash down areas, car parking and other relevant items.
· Show Days – record arrivals, ensure compliance, recording results, work with vets and mange section throughout the event.
· Support education department on Agricultural charitable activities.
· Attendance at relevant meetings in relation to the above
Old Time Farming
· Confirm section requirements
· Invite relevant exhibitors and mange entries as they come in
· Order section materials
· Send tickets and passes
· Organise exhibitor arrivals and manage exhibitor compound
· Other items that may arrive throughout the year
· Attendance at relevant meetings in relation to the above

· Computer literate - strong Microsoft office skills

How to apply/more information
The demands of the role (and therefore the hours fluctuate) in line with the show deadlines, with the main work being done April to end of July.
We are happy to consider 22.5 hours min per week provided there is an understanding that from May to July and most specifically July you will need to work additional hours (for which TOIL is give) or a more fluid approach whereby the hours vary from month to month throughout the year but are in the region of 900 to1000. Annual leave pro rata 33 days including bank holidays (full time equivalent) and salary sacrifice pension scheme.
