Role: SEND Project Manager
Rate: £500 per day (Outside IR35)
Duration: 3 to 6 months
Working Pattern: Full-time (35 hours per week), mostly remote
I’m working with a local authority in the North West that’s entering the delivery phase of a major SEND transformation programme, backed by DfE mitigations. They’re now looking for an experienced SEND Project Manager to lead and structure delivery across multiple workstreams.
Overview:
Reporting into the Head of SEND and Programme Director, you’ll set up and manage 6-8 project workstreams, including task-and-finish groups. You’ll also establish a project management framework to support the wider programme and future delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Set up and manage multiple workstreams and delivery groups (6 to 8 projects)
2. Establish and implement a PM framework for future Project Managers to adopt
3. Create Terms of Reference for workstreams and task-and-finish groups
4. Support workstream leads in prioritising activities and managing delivery
5. Take on direct project responsibilities where needed to reduce pressure on teams
6. Deliver clear milestone reporting and maintain high standards of project documentation
7. Work at pace to prevent delays which could impact programme outcomes and financial targets
Essential Skills and Experience:
8. Strong knowledge of the SEND landscape
9. Proven experience in setting up and managing complex project structures
10. Excellent organisational skills and familiarity with project management tools
11. Strong problem-solving ability and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
12. Ability to balance financial savings with quality and outcomes for children and young people
13. Experience working with multi-agency partners, including schools and local services
14. Positive, can-do attitude and a flexible team player
