Overview
Are you an Accredited Clinical Coder with experience working within an acute NHS hospital setting? The Clinical Coding team at our hospital site Peterborough is looking to recruit to our substantive team of multi skilled specialist Clinical Coders. The successful candidate will be ACC qualified with experience in coding a broad range of clinical specialties.
Responsibilities
* Translate clinical information into diagnostic and procedure codes from patient health records scanned onto an electronic document management system and a variety of other electronic sources.
* Conduct validation exercises with the responsible Consultant to ensure correct assignment of diagnostic and procedure codes and to identify gaps in clinical documentation to support clinical coding.
* Manage your own workload each day within the usual deadlines for submission of coded data.
* Demonstrate excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with clinicians and all relevant support staff to ensure coded data reflects accurately the care of our patients.
* Work within a team that shares knowledge across teams with support from senior colleagues who may be mentors, and are supported by qualified auditors and a trainer.
Requirements
* ACC Clinical Coder (Band 5) with experience coding a broad range of clinical specialties.
* Hours: Full Time 37.5 hours per week; Contract: Permanent; Vacancy site: Peterborough.
* Excellent analytical and judgement skills; good working knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy across a range of clinical specialties.
* Ability to manage own workload with attention to deadlines for submission of coded data.
* Ideally practical coding experience across all specialties within an acute NHS hospital setting.
* Priority will be given to colleagues identified as at risk through the Trust’s redeployment process.
