Mothercare are seeking a talented Legal Counsel in a stand alone role to support the business with the timely delivery of its objectives. We will consider applicants who require full time or part time working patterns. Key ResponsibilitiesDrafting, negotiating and reviewing commercial contracts from all functions including franchising, licensing, marketing, wholesale, brand endorsement, supply/financing, manufacturing, social media agreements and sponsorship, IT and digital, NDAs and HOTsAssisting with management of Mothercare’s international Intellectual Property Portfolio via its external advisers to include registrations, renewals, oppositions, clearance and domain namesSupporting with company secretarial matters to include corporate governance and filings for Mothercare group companiesResearching niche areas of lawLiaising with and management of external counsel and key legal suppliers (in any number of the 40 territories which Mothercare’s Franchise Partners operate)Drafting templates, guidance documents and summary guidesDeveloping policies and processesSupporting the business with its strategic objectives and wider business requirementsSupporting with the implementation and roll-out of Mothercare’s contract repositoryIdentifying and mitigating legal and commercial riskEnsuring compliance with applicable lawsManaging and updating legal contractual systems and databasesManaging litigation and claims including correspondence with insurersAbout youQualified Lawyer with circa a minimum of 3 years’ PQE or non-qualified lawyer with equivalent experience (PQE should be treated as a guide as we will be willing to consider candidates of higher/lesser PQE if they are able to demonstrate other relevant experience)Strong commercial drafting and negotiation skills across a range of commercial agreementsExperience in contract law, Intellectual Property and consumer lawAn ability to manage unfamiliar matters practically and efficiently, using existing skillset and common senseCommercially astute and solutions orientated – an ability to grasp business needs and apply legal advice accordinglyExcellent verbal and written communication – an expert in simplifying complex legal concepts to the businessSome knowledge of corporate matters (including corporate governance and filings) is desirable but not essentialBest ThingsIf you’re looking for a career change, why not take your search global?
