Senior Hospital Contracts Adviser
Location: Bupa Place, Salford Quays or Willow House, Staines
Full time (37.5 hours per week). Hybrid working options available. Permanent contract. Salary: from £31,200 dependant on experience.
We make health happen. Join Bupa’s Hospital Management Team as a Senior Hospital Contracts Adviser! You’ll be responsible for managing the relationships and negotiating contracts with hospital and clinic providers, and all associated administration. You’ll prepare draft contracts and pricing schedules and review proposals from your own portfolio of providers.
Key Responsibilities
* Liaise with providers to ensure the timely submission of tender responses, contracts and quality submissions.
* Make sure annual price increases are processed correctly.
* Monitor and update the contracts database and other systems.
* Ensure the information contained in provider submissions is complete and accurate, chase for responses to queries and price agreements for new services.
* Review hospital cost trends, quality of service data and provider complaints to identify issues for investigation with Contract Executives and Senior Managers.
* Prepare review packs for discussion at quarterly review meetings.
* Monitor provider billing backlogs and work with providers to resolve billing issues.
* Agree one‑off prices with providers for provision of non‑contracted services and ex‑gratia payments, working within Bupa Governance framework.
* Work with providers to make sure our administrative processes and procedures are followed, and instances of non‑compliance are identified and addressed with providers.
* Work with providers and service teams to make sure escalated provider queries relating to aged debt / accuracy of Bupa payment are resolved quickly and effectively.
* Lead the resolution of complaints about hospitals, and also complaints about the level of service provided internally.
* Play an active role in delivery of projects impacting hospital contracts and administrative processes.
Key Skills & Qualifications
* Numerate, analytical, highly organised administrator with confident, engaging communication skills.
* Experience working with data analysis tools such as Excel, Power BI and similar to understand and interpret data and risk trends.
* Proven success in communicating with and influencing internal and external stakeholders; experience owning relationships with stakeholders.
* Familiar with reading, interpreting and drafting contracts.
* Strong stakeholder management and collaborative relationship‑building skills.
* Effective, influential, commercially minded negotiator, with experience of contracts management and negotiation or tendering.
* Objective, analytical and lateral thinking with a ‘can‑do’ attitude with the ability to summarise and communicate complex issues clearly and meaningfully.
* Rational thinker with a keen eye for detail, able to spot and resolve issues and opportunities to improve processes.
* Energetic team player, comfortable at managing own workload and prioritising competing demands from multiple stakeholders.
