With 14 main garden sites and dedicated garden teams, we are looking for a Gardener to join our team at Kenilworth Castle & Elizabethan Gardens. This is a part-time role working 14.4 hours per week
First built in the 1120s and a royal castle for most of its history, Kenilworth Castle was expanded by King John, John of Gaunt and Henry V. In 1563 Elizabeth I granted it to her favourite, Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, who converted the castle into a lavish palace fit to entertain his queen.
Today the site welcomes c.110,000 visitors a year to explore the mighty medieval keep, climb up Tudor towers built by Leicester to court Elizabeth I and wander through the beautifully recreated Elizabethan garden.
We are looking for someone with a passion for gardens to join our team to assist with the presentation and maintenance of Kenilworth Castle's gardens including the beautifully recreated Elizabethan Garden. The main activities involved with this role will be to carrying out general garden maintenance using both hand tools and machinery. This will include supporting our team of volunteers and ensuring that the standards of the gardens are maintained to be presentable to the public.

As a Gardener, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our gardens are well maintained and presented wonderful places to spend time in. You'll contribute to bringing to life the stories that our gardens tell, helping visitors of all ages make new discoveries.
You will be qualified to at least NVQ level 2 standard in amenity horticulture. and have previous experience of working in a high-quality horticultural establishment. You will work to high standards and be effective and efficient when working on your own or as part of the wider team.
