We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and highly organised School Business Manager (SBM) to join a well-established and forward-thinking school in Nottingham, starting ASAP. This is a key leadership role within the school, supporting the Headteacher and senior leadership team to ensure the effective management of finance, operations, and resources. The SBM plays a vital role in enabling high-quality teaching and learning by ensuring that all non-teaching operations run smoothly. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the school’s financial planning, budgeting, and reporting Oversee procurement, contracts, and value-for-money processes Manage HR administration, including staffing, recruitment, and payroll liaison Ensure compliance with statutory, financial, and regulatory requirements Oversee premises, health and safety, and facilities management Line manage administrative, finance, and premises staff Support the Headteacher and governors with strategic planning and reporting Manage risk assessments, policies, and procedures Oversee data protection, GDPR, and safeguarding compliance Contribute to the overall leadership and development of the school The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Have previous experience as a School Business Manager or in a similar role Have strong financial management and budgeting experience Be highly organised with excellent attention to detail Have strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills Be confident working with senior leaders and governors Have good knowledge of education finance, HR, and compliance Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children The school is based in Nottingham, with good transport links and a supportive leadership team.
