Responsibilities
 * Implement Point of Entry (POE) Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) controls at Larne Port, carrying out documentary, identity and physical checks on food and related products to ensure regulatory compliance.
 * Contribute to effective liaison and partnership arrangements relevant to departmental functions.
 * In consultation with the Principal Environmental Health Officer or Port Team Manager, determine and implement appropriate enforcement actions in line with departmental policies, legislation, and relevant Codes of Practice.
 * Conduct and assist in interviews, including those under PACE, prepare evidence, and attend court proceedings when required.
 * Prepare and serve authorised statutory notices to individuals responsible for consignments imported into Northern Ireland.
 * Act as an expert witness and provide specialist knowledge or opinions when required.
 * Contribute to internal and external working groups as directed.
Skills and Qualifications
 * Degree in Environmental Health AND hold membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
 * Experience in a local government Environmental Health role
 * Experience in applying knowledge and understanding of current Environmental Health related legislation to determine compliance,
 * Experience in successfully enforcing and remedying breaches
 * Experience in forming effective and professional relationships with stakeholders including business owners, statutory agencies and members of the public.
 * Competence in the use of Microsoft Office to include: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
 * Hold a full current driving licence valid in the UK and access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post.

About the role:£20.66 per hour37 hrs per week including evenings & weekends on a shift rota. (Shifts pattern is 8am to 8pm and 8pm to 8am. Shifts days are for 3 days at a time followed by 3 rest days.)Temporary from 01/11/25 - 30/06/26Public SectorClosing date is Friday 24th October 2025 at 12 noon.
