Assistant Buyer

Purpose of the role:
The Assistant Buyer supports the Buyer in the smooth and commercial delivery of the Pringle product range to drive profitable sales growth. This role involves managing the process to ensure collections are appropriately priced, effectively produced, and meet quality expectations aligned with department and business standards.
Responsibilities:
Accountabilities:
* Assist the Buyer in all aspects of product development.
* Buy and develop ranges in line with the agreed strategy.
* Contract orders with suppliers according to the Critical Path, delegating to administration if necessary.
* Oversee range plan accuracy and timely data entry.
* Manage samples and critical path schedules.
Range Development:
* Develop ranges according to plan, margin, and supply partner agreements.
* Place orders to achieve 95% availability.
* Maximize sales through trading and OTB strategies within set parameters.
* Manage and own all approval stages of the critical path.
* Coordinate with suppliers and sourcing teams on sourcing opportunities with departmental approval.
* Collaborate with merchandisers to produce lessons learned for future ranges.
* Produce monthly market and competitor reports to inform future strategies.
* Present ranges for sign-off.
* Monitor sales performance and understand cost price, margin, and quantity requirements.
Critical Path & Fit Process:
* Update and manage the critical path weekly.
* Report launch date exceptions weekly to the buyer.
* Coordinate weekly with teams through garment approval stages and update the critical path.
* Delegate or approve fabric, color, and trim deliveries.
* Attend fit sessions and approve samples promptly.
* Report QC issues and solutions to the Buyer.
* Manage late delivery debit notes, ensuring they are listed on logistics reports.
Samples:
* Ensure timely delivery of SMS and photoshoot samples, managing the SMS tracker and liaising with channels.
* Manage invoicing and courier costs within budget.
* Coordinate with technical teams on fit sessions and sample organization.
* Arrange samples for sign-off, noting amendments to range plans.
* Manage sample storage and delegate tidiness to Admin if needed.
People:
* Collaborate cross-functionally on proof approvals and input buying info into the product database.
