The Role
As a Category Assistant, you will provide administrative and commercial support to the Buying team for your category/categories. As part of the central Category Administration Team, you will also support the broader Buying team, as required. You will be responsible for a variety of administrative and commercial tasks, with a key focus on accuracy, efficiency and proactiveness to ensure the product range and trading plans are optimised to support the overall Ocado Retail strategy and goals.
This is a part time role (22.5 hours over 3 days) and is a 12 month maternity cover contract.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure all administrative tasks assigned by the Category Administration Manager are completed ahead of the deadline and managed as agreed between the Buyer and Supplier
2. Product set up of new product listings:Request and upload all product information (back of pack, images, substitutes & alternatives (subs & alts)Order samples from suppliers for weights & measuresLiaise with Supply Chain to ensure products are ranged on the website correctlyReview product pages to ensure all information is correctEnsure product listings are in line with company guidelines
3. Maintenance of current product listings: Review product pages to ensure all information is correct (back of pack, subs & alts) Maintain master assortment line list for relevant category including delisting obsolete product listings
4. Promotions: Once approved by the buyer, liaise with suppliers to ensure promotions are set up accurately, including completion of promotion submission forms to enable loading of promotions and relevant markdown pricing Check promotions are correct on the webshop
5. Media loading: Review banners prior to Go Live on the webshop
6. Supplier set up, onboarding, and management: Manage suppliers through supplier set up process in line with required timelinesReview account set up documents completed by suppliers Respond to Supplier queries including around contacts, invoices and reports in a timely manner with the support of the buyers
7. Price establishment / price changes: Price establish products Monitor cost price increases
8. Provides regular clear updates to senior stakeholders of status of administrative tasks, identifying any risks in advance and working to mitigate.
9. Coordinate supplier communication and samples for events such as the Christmas Press show, Charity events as well as for BAU marketing and promotional plans.
10. Assist the Customer Centre in a timely manner with responses for customer queries.
11. Work within critical path deadlines for all accountabilities, working at pace whilst ensuring accuracy.
12. Support with training on an ad-hoc basis.
13. Adhere to Ocado Retail values and comply with GSCOP and Competition Law.
Experience required
14. Minimum GCSE or equivalent requirements.
15. Strong administrative and organisational skills is a must.
16. Microsoft Office literate.
17. Previous experience in a fast-paced retail or buying environment preferable.

18. Numeracy and Accuracy - Office literate, with at least Beginner Excel experience.

Confident managing relationships internally and externally autonomously, as well as managing expectations including upwards to more senior colleagues.
20. Planning and Organisation - Manages workload and priorities autonomously. Capable managing multiple tasks at any one time to a high standard, ensuring deadlines are met, highlighting any risks to their manager in advance.
21. Problem Solving - Able to raise blockers and issues to the Buying Administration Manager in a timely manner.
22. Team player - Works collaboratively and proactively supports colleagues to achieve organisational goals.
