World Leader in Glucose Monitoring, Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops, and manufactures glucose monitoring systems for use in both home and hospital settings.
We have a Centre of Excellence and Innovation in Witney for the manufacture of test strips and biosensors used by patients and healthcare professionals for the day-to-day management of diabetes. The Operations group is the largest team in the Witney facility, producing high volumes of test strips and biosensors each year to the stringent quality standards demanded by European and US authorities and our internal quality systems.
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Manufacturing workstream in the role of Team Lead, overseeing a group of leaders collectively responsible for managing all aspects of the Manufacturing Unit's operation. This position covers a Day shift pattern of 4 days on, 4 days off.
The Team Lead is expected to ensure activities support a Manufacturing Centre of Excellence, Good Manufacturing Practice, and best-in-class working practices. Responsibilities include:
1. Managing and developing a team of employees and leaders within the area of responsibility, being accountable for their performance, and providing direction to ensure product availability, regulatory compliance, and productivity optimization.
2. Delivering quality and compliant products on time, in full, and cost-effectively to meet business and customer needs, supporting Abbott’s core values and a culture of continuous improvement.
3. Facilitating the optimization of the production area by directing support staff such as leads, Engineering, Schedulers, QA, and technical teams.
4. Monitoring and being responsible for the overall quality of the product and documentation produced by the Manufacturing Unit.
5. Ensuring compliance with EHS regulations and Abbott standards by maintaining EHS systems, programs, and procedures that manage risks, demonstrating leadership through actions and resource provision.
6. Supporting and driving rapid, compliant transfer and startup of new products and processes in the Manufacturing Unit.
Your focus will be on supporting ongoing development of processes and people, managing strategic relationships internally and externally, collating and reporting departmental metrics, and delivering critical business activities.
Qualifications include secondary education, with demonstrated exposure to Operations/Manufacturing environments, including knowledge of GMP, Technical, and Quality requirements, preferably within a regulated setting.
You should be a natural people leader with proven experience in 2nd line management, including strategy, resource planning, and financial management. Experience in developing, mentoring, and coaching teams to support growth and career development is essential. Strong communication skills, an engaging and motivating style, and a passion for leading change and continuous improvement projects are required. You should champion our business culture and ongoing journey.
A track record of achieving objectives, working proactively, and managing time effectively is also necessary.
