Job overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Lead Pharmacist to lead our Paediatric Respiratory Medicine and Asthma pharmacy service across West London Children’s Healthcare.
This is a high-impact clinical academic role, with 50% clinical leadership and 50% research and academic time, funded through the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (BRC). You will play a key role in delivering safe, effective and innovative medicines optimisation, while shaping the future of paediatric respiratory services both clinically and academically.
You will be joining a strong team of Nursing, Midwifery, Allied Health Professionals and Pharmacists (NMAHPPs) leading and delivering research at West London Children’s Healthcare and will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across Imperial College’s Centre for Paediatrics and Child Health (PaeCH).
Main duties of the job
1. Lead, develop and deliver clinical pharmacy services for paediatric respiratory medicine and asthma.
Provide expert pharmaceutical advice to multidisciplinary teams across WLCH
2. Lead on medicines optimisation, high-cost drug management, and clinical governance
3. Develop and implement biologics services within paediatric respiratory pathways
4. Work collaboratively across acute, outpatient and networked services
5. Lead and manage pharmacy staff, supporting training, supervision and workforce development
Contribute to service development, policy, and pathway redesign
6. Lead and support research, audit, and quality improvement
Translate research into clinical practice
7. Contribute to education and training across professional groups
Engage with the Imperial College Academic Health Science Centre and PaeCH

Person specification
Education
Essential criteria
8. Masters degree in pharmacy or equivalent
9. Member of the GPhC
10. Certificate in Pharmacy Practice
11. Diploma in clinical pharmacy practice
Desirable criteria
12. Appropriate short management courses
13. Masters in clinical pharmacy practice, or equivalent
14. Working towards RPS accreditation
15. Member of national pharmacy organisations linked to speciality.
Experience
Essential criteria
16. Significant post registration training and experience in hospital pharmacy including experience in Paediatric services
17. This must include a solid ground in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice (medicines’ information, aseptic services, ward services and dispensing).
18. Previous experience in delivering training and education
19. Experience in managing others and leading a team
Desirable criteria
20. Working within clinics / MDT for Paediatrics
21. Setting up new clinical services and measuring service impact
22. Experience of applying for governance approvals
Skills
Essential criteria
23. Good clinical practice and knowledge of Paediatric services
24. Ability to influence senior pharmacy and medical staff, the multidisciplinary team and management
25. Demonstrates awareness and commitment to the Clinical Governance agenda
26. Analytical ability for problem solving
Desirable criteria
27. Research experience- including writing proposals for research funding
28. Successful in securing grants and/or fellowship funding
