The post holders will provide a range of 2nd & 3rdline technical support services for the organisations server and networkinfrastructure, including hardware and software support, development &implementation for systems, servers, storage, security and virtualisation andwill also have experience of supporting network infrastructure and wirelessconnectivity in a large corporate setting.
As this role is both technical and operational thepost holders will support the day-to-day running of the IT Servers and Networksto agreed service levels and installation of new hardware and systems whenrequired with participation as a project team member and in some cases projectlead for ongoing technical support improvements to the organisationsinfrastructure.
Together with the rest of the team the post holders will support IT users and be responsible for keeping the organisations staffand other IT colleagues fully informed of the progress of calls raised with theService Desk, maintaining clear, high quality records on actions undertaken insupport of resolving IT incidents.
Working with the IT Server and Network Lead Engineerthe post holder will ensure IT services and solutions are appropriately andcost effectively designed and implemented to sufficiently support theorganisations clinical and operational capability.
Main duties of the job
* The successful candidates should have afriendly, professional and customer focused approach; always putting thecustomer first and ensuring they are kept up to date with the status andprogress of incidents and service requests. Candidates will also need to possessgood analytical and problem-solving skills.
* The post holders will be avalued member of a well-run and efficient IT team.
* Applicants should have some experienceof working within a similar environment, have excellent organisational skillsand the ability to prioritise and analyse complex issues as well as having anexcellent telephone manner and communication skills. The post holder should be ableto remain calm under pressure and express solutions or ideas to customers in a clearand non-technical manner.
* The postholders should have 3 years experience of working with large corporate computingand networking environments. Experienceworking within an NHS environment is favourable.
The Infrastructure Engineer role will be part of arota covering the service operating hours of 07:30 to 18:30 Monday to Friday over a 37.5 hour working week. The role will also includethe need for on-call third line duties on a rota.
