Covering 365 days over a 24-hour period on a rotational shift pattern and completing the administrative tasks that are aligned to provide effective care for patients on the Emergency and Acute pathway.

Duties
* Ensure that there is good communication between the administration team and the clinical team so that the department area runs smoothly.
* Liaise with patients, relatives, carers, outside agencies and colleagues within a multidisciplinary team via telephone and face-to-face communication.
* Ensure that all patients are received and directed to the appropriate waiting area or ward area in a courteous and professional and timely manner as the post holder is often the first point of contact for most patients.
* Ensure that patients' demographic details are always kept up-to-date in the medical records and on the Patient Administration System, by checking personal details such as name, address, telephone number, ethnic origin, and GP.
* Use the Patient Administration System to book patients onto the system and to make follow-up outpatients as and when required.
* Update patient management systems, answer calls and greet patients/relatives.
* Prepare notes and support the nursing team with all aspects of ward administration such as record keeping, data entry, filing and scanning.
