The Quality Engineer - Nuclear is responsible for ensuring compliance with nuclear quality assurance standards, regulations, and protocols. This role involves the development, implementation, and management of quality systems that support safe and efficient nuclear processes including design, sourcing, stock control, production, training, and servicing.

Key Responsibilities:

* Quality Management Systems (QMS): Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems in accordance with ISO 9001, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1, CSA N299, and other relevant nuclear standards.
* Compliance and Auditing: Conduct internal and external audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, including nuclear regulatory bodies (e.g., NRC, ONR, IAEA).
* Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain quality assurance documentation, including quality plans, inspection and test plans, and audit reports.
* Supplier Quality Management: Evaluate and monitor suppliers and contractors to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications.
* Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within the quality systems and contribute to process optimisation initiatives.
* Risk Management: Support risk assessments and the development of mitigation strategies related to quality and safety.
* Incident Investigation: Support root cause analysis and corrective action processes for quality-related incidents.
* Training and Development: Provide training to staff and contractors on quality standards, processes, and best practices.

Skills and Competencies:

* Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of nuclear industry standards and regulatory requirements.
* Problem Solving: Proactive approach to identifying and resolving quality-related challenges.
* Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse complex quality issues and develop practical solutions.
* Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in documentation and process assessments.
* Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex quality issues clearly.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

* Effectiveness of QMS.
* Timeliness of quality documentation and reporting.
* Number of quality-related incidents and corrective actions taken.


Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience:

* Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
* Certifications: Quality Management certification (e.g., ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, ASME NQA-1) is desirable.
* Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience in quality systems within the nuclear or a highly regulated industry.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in quality management software and tools, as well as MS Office applications.
