Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Funeral Service Operative to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting Funeral Directors to guide families through the funeral process with professionalism and care. This role requires a strong commitment to providing exceptional service during a sensitive time, ensuring that all aspects of the funeral arrangements are handled with care and respect.
Duties
* Acting as pall bearer on funerals.
* Driving funeral and support vehicles.
* Ensuring vehicles and premises are kept in a presentable condition l.
* Attending expected and sudden deaths.
* Assist in preparation of the deceased.
* Preparation of coffins and all associated deliveries.
* Sickness cover for the on call rota, eventually joining the rota. For this reason you must live within 30 minutes of York. (Additional pay for on call)
Experience
* Previous experience in a funeral home or similar environment is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate.
* Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with clients.
* Ability to perform heavy lifting as part of the role.
* A valid driving licence is essential.
