We are seeking a talented Kitchen Team Member to work at our Ibis Portsmouth hotel. The hotel has 144 bedrooms and a vibrant, varied environment. The role requires flexibility to cover both breakfast buffet shifts and our lively evening menu shifts.

Responsibilities
* Prepare and present menu items with variety and flair within the hotel’s cost margins.
* Ensure strict stock rotation and minimum wastage; implement and maintain stock control procedures.
* Order necessary foods according to proposed business demands; consult with the Executive Chef for guidance and authorization of orders.
* Liaise with Restaurant staff regarding menu item availability, additions, and relevant changes.
* Work with and coordinate the work of apprentices in preparation and production of food as required.
* Prepare and ensure availability of mise en place as required.
* Keep all working areas clean and tidy; ensure equipment is maintained, serviced and cleaned. Report any problems to the Executive Chef.
* Assist and liaise with the chef on duty as required.
Health & Safety
* Notify your Manager if you are unable to perform tasks safely.
* Participate in workplace consultation on Health and Safety matters as per hotel arrangements.
* Comply with Health, Safety and Environment policies, including safe manual handling, safe use of hazardous chemicals and machinery, working at heights, protective clothing and safety equipment, maintaining a clean work environment, and other safety practices promoted by the hotel.
* Attend and actively participate in all WHS training required by the Hotel.
* Report health or safety hazards, incidents and injuries to your Manager or Manager on Duty; complete appropriate documentation such as Injury/Incident forms.
* Contribute to risk assessment processes when requested by your Supervisor/Manager.
* Support the hotel’s rehabilitation program as required and maintain hygiene standards for food handling and presentation as prescribed by regulations.
* Be familiar with departmental fire and evacuation procedures and ensure equipment is in good working order; report damaged equipment.
* Contribute to cost control through energy conservation and proper storage of materials and use of equipment in line with operating standards and manufacturer specifications.
