We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible Registered Nurse to join our team at Crawley Hospital, West Sussex Integrated Sexual Health Service.
The successful candidate will be enrolled in a supportive education and training pathway focusing on clinical skills, reflective supervision, and research. We provide full training in Genito-Urinary Medicine and support for completing the FSRH Diploma in Contraception and Sexual Health. Upon achieving the necessary competencies, there will be progression to Band 6.
We welcome applications from those with some Sexual Health experience who wish to develop their skills further.
Applicants should have substantial post-registration experience at Band 5 and enjoy teamwork.
The unit operates 6 days a week; flexibility with working hours and willingness to travel regionally for training or meetings are required.
Crawley Sexual Health Department is part of the West Sussex Integrated Sexual Health Service, which includes hub clinics in Worthing and Chichester, along with several spoke clinics across the region.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide nursing advice and support to clients, offering a comprehensive, client-centered service. This includes delivering current, evidence-based information on contraception, sexual health, health promotion, health checks, and other relevant services, empowering clients to make informed decisions.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will work under the guidance of the Team Manager to develop the Integrated Sexual Health Service (ISHS) within the locality, including hub and spoke clinics.
As part of the wider ISHS team, you will ensure service delivery meets Key Performance Targets and standards aligned with national and local strategies, the Department of Health 15 Steps quality criteria, and the Trust’s Patient First approach. You will liaise with various partner agencies, especially those working with clients under 18.
You will demonstrate expertise in assessing, developing, delivering, and evaluating care programs for clients of all ages, often in nurse-only settings. Sharing knowledge and skills with staff and clients within the service is essential.
If necessary, you will provide line management and support to Band 3 nursing staff within the area.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree-level or equivalent post-registration study
* Recognized qualifications relevant to sexual health, e.g., GUM, CASH, HIV, Teaching and Assessing/Mentorship certificates
Knowledge, Training, and Experience
* Maintaining a professional portfolio
* Experience in sexual health, GUM, or contraceptive care, or Band 5 experience in related specialties
* Use of PGDs
* Competence with CaSH knowledge, microscopy, wart treatment
Communication and Relationship Skills
* Handling sensitive information with empathy, persuasion, negotiation, and reassurance, especially when supporting distressed or angry patients
* Knowledge of Fraser competencies for under 16s
Analytical and Judgmental Skills
* Ability to assess patients and advise on appropriate options
