Job Overview
Consultant Nurse Practitioner for the Hospital Outreach 24/7 Team. The postholder will work strategically across the Deteriorating Patient and Sepsis pathways, influencing other disciplines and the wider organisation, and supporting the implementation of Marthas Rule. The role includes mentoring Nurse Practitioners and guiding the education and training needs of the Team in recognition and treatment of deteriorating patients. The postholder will provide expert clinical care, exercise strong clinical leadership, and develop and implement a strategy for development of the sick, deteriorating and sepsis pathways, including coordination of research, audit and quality improvement activity. The post will be split between Worcestershire Royal Hospital and The Alexandra Hospital, with travel across the county and responsibility for holding the Senior Nurse Bleep for out-of-hours on-call support.

Key Duties
* Ensure care is evidence-based where possible and aligned with National Guidelines; contribute to implementation of national and local healthcare policies and to innovative service delivery.
* Identify patients early and ensure timely treatment to improve outcomes.
* Develop the life after critical care illness service, providing follow-up care and making appropriate referrals.
* Provide innovative professional leadership to ensure a high-quality, safe, and cost-effective service for patients.
* Lead the professional workforce agenda, maximizing its contribution to divisional and Trust strategic goals, in line with patient needs and professional standards.
* Split duties across Worcestershire Royal Hospital and The Alexandra Hospital; hold Senior Nurse Bleep and provide out-of-hours on-call support.
* Work with all Health Care Professionals to ensure early identification and treatment of deteriorating patients.
* Collaborate with adult SCSD and other local units to ensure a coherent approach to assessment, treatment, and monitoring.
* Develop the life after critical care illness service and provide referrals to other professionals as appropriate.
* Model expert practice and support students and junior staff in nurse-led care; ensure compliance with NMC standards and consider Advanced Practice roles.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Essential: NMC/AHP Registration; Mentorship, supervision and assessing qualifications or equivalent; Masters level (higher education).
* Desirable: ALS provider.
Knowledge
* Essential: Superior clinical knowledge; advanced clinical reasoning; experience with quality improvement, research and audit processes.
* Desirable: Knowledge of local/national databases; awareness of external bodies impacting critical illness, deterioration and sepsis care.
Personal Qualities
* Essential: Commitment to high-quality, compassionate care; inclusive of diversity; strong interpersonal skills; flexible, reliable, and self-aware; mature with willingness to develop.
Other Job Requirements
* Essential: Ability to meet Occupational Health requirements; DBS checks as applicable; Enhanced DBS for roles involving children or vulnerable adults.

* Essential: Excellent advanced clinical assessment; leadership; time management; autonomy; ICT skills; strong verbal/written communication; capability to drive change and improve patient safety; publication and conference skills; understanding of current policy and governance.
Experience
* Essential: Expert clinical practitioner with autonomy; extensive teaching at graduate/postgraduate level; experience in multidisciplinary settings.
* Desirable: Experience in critical care/emergency settings; involvement in national policy development; prior research or education post.
