Purpose of Role
To primarily manage a caseload of varied EL/PL cases. The majority of the cases will be Fast Track with the potential to handle Multi Track cases, with some business to consumer and business to business matters. The role supports the Senior Litigation Solicitor and includes providing guidance to the Pre-litigation team.
The team is looking to explore the team its involvement in regulatory work. Experience in this area is desired but is not essential.
Key Accountabilities
1. Handling a caseload of EL/PL files. The majority of the cases will be Fast Track with the potential to handle Multi track cases
2. Advising on liability and quantum
3. Initial report/review and setting strategy for the management of the claim
4. Undertaking investigations remotely or at store
5. Reviewing evidence (e.g. Accident report documentation, training records).
6. Drafting straightforward Defences and Counter Schedules
7. Preparing Disclosure
8. Drafting/reviewing witness evidence
9. Conducting/arranging for cover at Court hearings
10. Considering and reporting on medical evidence
11. Instructing Counsel/investigators/medical and other experts
12. Advising on costs
13. Instructing external Law Costs Draftsman
14. Preparing pre-trial reports
15. Attending conferences and trial ( if required) with Counsel
16. Raising payments
17. Ensuring compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct
18. Keeping appraised of legal developments
KPIs
19. Meeting court deadlines
20. Ensuring that business and insurer MI is accurate
Technical Skills
Essential
21. Qualified solicitor or CILEX with full litigation practice rights
22. At least 3 years PQE, but we will consider those with relevant pre-qualification experience E
23. Must be a strong team player
24. Experience of handling a caseload of EL/PL files
25. Willingness to upskill on regulatory matters e.g. HSE/ Local Authority investigation and prosecutions
26. Ability to prioritise work, keep to deadlines
27. Attention to detail
28. IT skills. Candidate must be self-sufficient

31. Good Insurer care skills and evidence of working to Insurer guidelines
