Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive support to consultants and specialty teams.
* Transcribe clinical dictation from audio recordings and documentation.
* Ensure timely action on all patient‑care correspondence.
* Liaise with patients to resolve queries and respond to consultant requests.
* Attend training and education sessions at the manager’s request.
* Manage clinic utilisation, including the patient waiting list.
* Oversee the RTT patient pathway and record accurately in the relevant systems.
* Ensure clinics are fully populated, cancel or reschedule as appropriate.
* Maintain the follow‑up OPD wait list and update patients accordingly.
* Book appointments as directed by consultants using the appropriate systems.
* Handle patient queries professionally and share information with relevant clinical staff.
* Inform staff of consultant leave, study leave, and sickness absence in line with Trust policy.
* Maintain confidentiality and act in accordance with the Trust’s safeguarding procedures.
* Access vulnerable patients as required; comply with Disclosure and Barring Service checks.
Qualifications
* Minimum education: GCSE/O Level standard or equivalent.
* RSA/OCR Typing/Word Processing Level III or equivalent.
* Audio typing qualification (RSA/OCR Level III) or equivalent.
* Secretarial qualification or equivalent experience.
* Excellent IT skills and experience with Microsoft Office.
* ECDL or equivalent certification.
* Knowledge of medical terminology (desirable).
* Experience working in an NHS office environment (desirable).
