Opportunity for short-term, part-time research assistant position - Behaviour mapping of public spaces
We are seeking to recruit a part-time researcher for a fixed-term contract to support data analysis for an impact project funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) - Impact Acceleration Account (IAA).
The project involves engaging with teenage girls and young women (TGYW) in various Cardiff neighborhoods to map their use of park facilities, understand their needs and aspirations, build capacity for TGYW to influence park and neighborhood design, and guide decision-makers towards gender-inclusive redesigns.
The ideal candidate will be studying for a degree in architecture, urban planning, urban design, human geography, or a related social science or humanities field. Experience in observation and behaviour mapping of public spaces is essential, with existing data analysis support expected. The candidate should be available to start from 10th July 2025, working approximately 2.5 days per week for 6-8 weeks. The role is contingent on proof of right to work and submission of timesheets.

1. Literature review on observation and behaviour mapping of public spaces, gendered spaces, and related design and planning for girls and women.
2. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of existing behaviour mapping data.
3. Data visualization, including behaviour maps illustrating space usage.
