Job Description:
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacy support worker to join our cancer pharmacy team. You will primarily work within dispensing and aseptic areas but will also gain experience in pharmacy stores and outpatient and ward areas. You will need to be flexible, organised, work well within a team, and have a positive, ‘can do’ attitude. Previous pharmacy experience is essential. You will have excellent communication skills and an NVQ2 qualification in pharmacy services or be working towards one. The post holder(s) will be required to participate in weekend and public holiday rotas.
The job involves rotating through the dispensary and the pharmacy aseptic (sterile) unit, supporting pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with dispensing chemotherapy and medicines for side effect management, stock control, coordinating medicines delivery, environmental monitoring, assembly and transfer of products for aseptic manufacture, as well as administrative tasks.
Due to the critical and sensitive nature of our work, you will be required to meet high standards of discipline and personal hygiene, adhering to standard operating procedures and clean room behaviours. Full aseptic training will be provided.
We are a friendly, forward-thinking team putting cancer patients at the heart of everything we do and would love to have you on board.
If you're interested and want to discuss further, please contact Susan Henderson, Cancer specialist pharmacy technician at 01324 566726 or Julie Ross, Senior Technician, Aseptic at 01324 566714.
