Deputy Head of Risk - Asset Management An excellent opportunity has come up to work within a global Investment firm who are looking to increase their risk capability. A leading global provider of investment processing, fund solutions, and investment management outsourcing is seeking a Deputy Head of Risk for its UK-regulated entity. The Risk Management team plays a central role within the business, independently overseeing the identification, assessment, and mitigation of risk, while fostering a robust and embedded risk culture across the organisation. The Role The Deputy Head of Risk will support the Chief Risk Officer (SMF 4) in designing, implementing, and maintaining the risk management framework for the UK business, with a primary focus on asset management activities. The role involves providing independent challenge, strategic input, and oversight of the firm's risk profile. Key Responsibilities Support the CRO in the development and execution of the Risk Management Framework, covering operational, credit, liquidity, market, investment, conduct, and reputational risks. Provide strategic risk guidance on key regulatory topics (e.g., MIFIDPRU, ICARA), governance, and organisational risk matters. Act as a senior leader within the function, including chairing and attending risk committees in the absence of the CRO. Serve as an escalation point for risk officers, ensuring consistent and effective guidance. Lead and mentor members of the risk team, contributing to talent development and performance oversight. Oversee and assess risks across the business and ensure appropriate monitoring and mitigation measures are in place. Act as a subject matter expert for key risk and incident metrics, reporting and oversight. Promote a strong risk culture across all levels of the organisation through education, engagement, and training. Collaborate with finance and the business to quantify risk drivers and capital/liquidity requirements. Support strategic planning and ensure alignment between business objectives and the risk strategy. Contribute to the selection and implementation of risk systems and tools. Represent the risk function internally and externally, including regulatory engagement and senior stakeholder communication. Lead on strategic change and transformation projects as needed. Risk Responsibilities Demonstrate expert understanding of relevant risk policies, procedures, and appetites. Integrate risk considerations into all business decisions and operational practices. Ensure prompt and accurate recording and escalation of risk incidents. Conduct regular assessments of risk and control environments. Complete all required risk training and promote best practices across the business. Candidate Profile This role requires a confident, commercially aware risk leader with excellent communication skills and a pragmatic, hands-on approach. The ideal candidate will combine technical risk expertise with the ability to convey complex information clearly to non-specialists and senior stakeholders. Essential Experience: Significant experience in UK-regulated financial services, especially in risk management for asset management. Deep expertise across key risk disciplines: liquidity, credit, market, and operational risk. Proven success in implementing and embedding risk frameworks and fostering a positive risk culture. Experience influencing and leading senior-level meetings and committees. Strong understanding of UK regulatory expectations, with awareness of international frameworks. Demonstrated leadership in team management and talent development. Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills at senior levels. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; further academic qualifications (e.g., master’s degree) preferred. Proficiency in IT systems relevant to risk management and data analysis. High integrity, sound judgment, and excellent report writing and presentation skills.
