SEN Teaching Assistant Location: Belper Salary: £90–£110 per day (Depending on Experience) Start Date: September 2025 Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long-Term; Full-Time / Part-Time Are you passionate about supporting pupils with special educational needs (SEN)? If so, GSL Education are currently seeking an enthusiastic and reliable SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to work in welcoming and inclusive schools in Belper, starting from September 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are experienced in supporting students with additional needs or are eager to develop a career in education. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and learning difficulties. You’ll assist class teachers in creating an environment where every student feels supported, respected, and able to access the curriculum. This includes working one-to-one, in small groups, or within the general classroom setting, adapting your approach based on individual pupil requirements. SEN TA Responsibilities: Support students with SEN in accessing their learning and achieving their goals Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) and IEPs Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment Assist the class teacher in managing classroom behaviour and lesson delivery Monitor and record student progress and development Prepare learning resources and adapt materials to suit individual needs Encourage the development of social and communication skills Help manage emotional regulation and support students with behavioural challenges Foster positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families Adhere to school safeguarding policies and practices SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements: Previous experience supporting children with SEN as a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) or similar, in school settings A degree in Psychology, SEND, Counselling or a similar field is desirable but not essential. Knowledge of SEN practices and common learning barriers (e.g., ASD, ADHD, SEMH) CACHE Level 2/3 or similar qualification in Teaching Assistant is desirable but not mandatory Ability to remain calm, patient, and empathetic under pressure Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply) Why Join GSL Education?
