Previous experience of working within a control room is required, and ideally within a security environment.
The postholder will be responsible for matters relating to
1. the response to reported incidents requiring student support, crime, accidents and anti-social behaviour via all media including email and telephone
2. the deployment of staff to manage such incidents
3. coordinating a response to intruder and fire alarms
4. monitoring incidents via CCTV
5. maintaining accurate records and data held within the control room
Applicants must ensure that any application separately evidences all the essential criteria to assist with shortlisting. A full driving licence is not an essential requirement. Job Purpose
To form part of the university security function, your main duties will be to provide support to security officers on a rotating shift pattern of twelve-hours, starting at 6 pm and ceasing at 6am on nights, and 6am to 6pm on days.
Based within the security control room, you will monitor all incidents reported and deploy the staff required to resolve any issues, ensuring that the security supervisor is updated.
You will be required to monitor the CCTV system to ensure any incidents are identified in a timely manner, deploying effective resources as required.
To provide operational cover to the gatehouse when required, housed in the same building.
To accept and record items of lost property and conduct enquiries to return to the owner where appropriate.
