We currently have a fantastic opportunity available for a Planned Electrical Craftsperson (Electrical Maintenance Engineer) to join our team based in Totnes. The role is full‑time, permanent, with a competitive salary of £35,777 – £45,881 per annum, guaranteed standby allowance, and additional pay for call‑out and overtime.
You will also receive a company van, a range of excellent company benefits and work a 39‑hour week with 1 in 4 Fridays off.
About the role
As the Planned Electrical Craftsperson you will take ownership of fault‑finding, repairing and maintaining South West Water assets across a range of wastewater treatment sites, treatment works and sewage pumping stations. Your work will support the South West Water Vision by minimising risk to compliance and preventing pollution.
What you'll be doing
 * Carry out planned maintenance on electrical equipment to the highest standard, including pumps, panels, motors, switchgear and specialist treatment process machinery
 * Apply first‑level maintenance activities to all onsite assets
 * Repair electrical control systems
 * Work with other disciplines in a workshop/mobile team setting
 * Maintain health and safety standards and work safely at all times
 * Keep training and competencies up to date, including participation in the M+E competency framework
The job includes responsibility for:
 * Providing detailed specification of parts for ordering stock replacements and parts needed for repairs
 * Installing new electrical equipment in line with BS7671
 * Undertaking any training required to carry out work activities safely and legally
 * Carrying out scheduled work activities and keeping internal customers informed of any impacts on their processes
 * Using or requesting method statements and safe systems of work for the activities you carry out
 * Acting as the duty electrical craftsperson on a standby/call‑out rota
What we are looking for
Essentials
 * 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths, English, and Science at grade C or above
 * Relevant formal qualifications such as City and Guilds, BTEC, ONC/HNC/HND, or apprenticeship support
 * Compliance with current IEE Regulations 18th Edition
 * A full UK driving licence
Desirables
 * City & Guilds Inspect & Test 2391-10
 * CompEx 09/10
 * Industrial/Commercial experience
 * Experience with VSDs, soft starters and motor control systems
 * Understanding of wiring diagrams
 * Knowledge of risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)
 * Good working knowledge of LV systems (e.g., 415VAC down to 24VAC and DC control)
