Toolmaker / Tooling Engineer
Toolmaker opportunity in a growing manufacturing business supplying high‑quality engineered products to customers across a range of industries. The company is looking to strengthen its engineering team with an experienced Toolmaker working closely with production teams, tooling suppliers and engineering colleagues to support manufacturing performance, tooling capability and future engineering investment decisions.
Salary: circa £45,000. Flexible working hours, early Friday finish and genuine opportunities to broaden your responsibilities into tooling design and engineering projects.
Responsibilities
* Manufacture, modify and maintain tooling using conventional milling, turning and grinding machinery.
* Support production teams with tooling‑related issues, repairs and engineering improvements.
* Work with tooling suppliers to develop and improve tooling solutions.
* Support process development and continuous improvement projects across the manufacturing operation.
* Identify opportunities to improve tooling performance, quality and manufacturing efficiency.
* Produce business cases to support tooling and equipment investment proposals.
Qualifications & Skills
* Previous experience as a Toolmaker, Toolroom Engineer or similar manufacturing professional.
* Strong hands‑on experience with conventional/manual milling, turning and grinding machinery.
* Engineering qualification such as Apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent.
* Ability to diagnose tooling issues and implement practical engineering solutions.
* Comfortable working with production teams, suppliers and other engineering stakeholders.
