Central Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Mental Health Recovery Keyworker to work in the Islington area. The service provides specialist support to those with mental health needs using a trauma informed and recovery based approach to assist service users to live independently within the community.

The successful candidate will be required to work 35 hours per week, working Monday - Friday, 9AM - 5PM. Cover is required until 2nd January 2026 with the possibility of extension. The pay rate is £14.90 per hour, with £2.17 holiday pay, totalling £17.07 per hour.

Please note; this role is mainly based in Islington but there is the occasional need to visit another service (10-15 minute walk) for Team meetings and other Adhoc tasks.

In this position, you will be expected to;

* Hold a caseload of 7 residents with complex needs including mental health, forensic, drug addiction, alcohol issues and physical health needs; carrying out weekly key work sessions and developing and evaluating SMART support/care plans

* Carry out assessment to identify and prioritise needs at referral stages and throughout support offered and complete risk assessments

* Ensure that recovery and Trauma informed approach is effectively deployed.

* Ensure that all residents are supported to develop independence and work towards move on where appropriate.

* Engage with residents daily to build their trust and encourage them to take part in various activities within the service and wider community

* Support residents with their medication according to best practise. This includes prompting, checking and supporting residents with their medication needs.

* Escort residents to appointments, activities and attend meetings in community. This can include assisting with GP registration and accompanying residents to the bank

* Support residents with budgeting, applying for benefits and following up on applications or appealing when necessary

* Establish effective, transparent and open lines of communication with care teams

* Ensure care notes and health and safety records are recorded accurately and on time

* Ensure there is a safe and welcoming environment for staff, residents and visitors

* Support the budgeting process

* Complete Health & Safety and room checks

Please note; this role involves lone working

To apply for this role, you must have;

* Experience of supporting residents with complex mental health needs who may still be using drugs and alcohol

* Experience managing a caseload, conducting risk and needs assessments and Support Planning

* Experience and knowledge of statutory regulation and legislation linked to mental health

* Experience of safeguarding and social care

* Ability to respond calmly to crisis and deal promptly, effectively and safely to complex and challenging situations

* The sensitivity, flexibility and patience to find ways to work with clients who may be hesitant/slow to engage with a new person

* Ability to multi-task, manage time effectively and use own initiative

* Ability to communicate and negotiate with colleagues, residents and other professionals

* Experience of lone working and being comfortable working in isolation

* Good standard of IT knowledge, Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Further requirements:

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:

* Current valid right to work in the UK

* Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)

* A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)

* Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
