About the Role:
Our Estates & Facilities team is responsible for services that make our environment a positive place to work and study. This includes estate development, cleaning, maintenance, environmental management, travel services, timetabling, space management, catering, conference, and residential services.
We are seeking a Facilities Operative (FACOP) to join our friendly, professional, customer-focused team at Cambridge Campus. In this varied role, you will handle porterage, room layouts, and collection/deliveries across campuses, with a vehicle provided.
You may also undertake general maintenance and cleaning tasks, such as changing lightbulbs, gully clearing, snow and ice clearance, gritting, basic gardening, and assisting with waste removal and recycling. You will conduct building inspections, report defects, and monitor resolutions via our Help Desk.
This role requires manual handling, initiative, and flexibility. You should be a team player, able to prioritize effectively, and educated to GCSE level A-C or hold a vocational qualification at NVQ level 2 or equivalent. Previous relevant experience, ideally in a large multi-site organization, and a basic understanding of Health and Safety are preferred.
Participation in a shift rota is essential, covering shifts between 7am and 9pm, including some weekends for events. Shifts are typically early (7am-3.30pm) and late (12.30pm-9pm), Monday to Friday, with a 30-minute early finish on Fridays.
