Ethos Education is seeking an English Teacher for a permanent teaching role in a secondary school in the Kingston area starting in April 2026. This position would suit an experienced English Teacher or an Early Career Teacher looking to develop within a supportive English department.
The role
The English Teacher will teach English Language and English Literature across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, helping students develop strong reading, writing and analytical skills. The department works collaboratively with shared planning and clear curriculum structures that support effective teaching.
Key responsibilities include:
• Teaching English across KS3 and KS4
• Delivering engaging lessons in English language and literature
• Supporting pupils preparing for GCSE English examinations
• Assessing student progress and providing feedback
• Contributing to departmental planning and curriculum development
• Supporting high standards of literacy across the school
The candidate
This role will suit someone who:
• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Has a degree in English or a closely related subject
• Has strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for English
• Is confident teaching English Language and English Literature at KS3 and KS4
• Values clear routines and collaborative department working
