Job Overview
Mitie Care & Custody, the market‑leader in outsourced Police services, is looking for a registered Nurse (RN/RGN) or Paramedic with at least 2 years post‑qualification experience to care for detainees in Police Custody Suites across South Wales, Gwent, Dyfed Powys and other regions. The role involves providing physical, mental and wellbeing care, administering medication, collecting forensic samples for police investigations and recording all care in computerised systems.
Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive physical, mental and wellbeing care to detainees.
* Assess fitness to detain or release detainees and administer medications as needed.
* Collect and document forensic samples for police investigations.
* Maintain accurate, timely records in computerised systems.
* Collaborate with police liaison, diversion teams and other support services to address root‑cause issues and prevent future crime.
* Work across assigned custody suites and regions, not limited to a single base.
Qualifications & Experience
* Registered Adult Nurse (RN/RGN) or Paramedic with a minimum of 2 years post‑qualification experience.
* Band 5 minimum for RN/RGN; Paramedic 2 years post‑qualification.
* Relevant patient‑facing experience in general practice, A&E, emergency medicine, acute medicine, walk‑in centres, substance misuse services, prison healthcare or ambulance service.
Licencing & Vetting
* HCPC/NMC registration (required).
* Valid driving licence (required).
* UK resident for at least 3 years with no gaps out of the country longer than 3 months.
* All candidates will be subject to Police Vetting.
Salary
£24.50 per hour.
