Data Centre Tech Lead / Site Lead-Planner – Data Centre Services Overview The Data Centre Tech Lead / Site Lead-Planner is a pivotal role in delivering Telecoms Cabling Infrastructure Support Services and Data Centre Operations for Onnec Group clients. This role combines technical leadership with planning, quality assurance, and project coordination responsibilities, ensuring seamless service delivery across all client data centre and campus sites. Tech Lead will be responsible for the Data Centre and the team that work within, they will be required to work every other Saturday (overtime). The core hours are Monday to Friday, however, the Data Centre Environment is 24/7 and a degree of flexibility to ensure risks are managed is a key component of the role. Key Responsibilities Team & Workload Management Plan, allocate, and manage the daily workload for on-site teams, ensuring all IMACs and BAU activities are delivered efficiently and to client standards. Supplement engineer resources as required to maintain service levels and shift coverage across all locations. Produce and manage weekly shift rotas, ensuring flexibility and adequate resource coverage for all shifts, including out-of-hours and weekend work. Mentor and support team members, transferring knowledge and ensuring all staff are trained and certified as required. Project & Client Support Attend and contribute to client and project meetings, providing management information (MI) and updates on operational status. Liaise with Project Managers, Service Managers, and client stakeholders to plan and coordinate future projects and resource requirements. Provide DC project support capability, covering all locations and supporting the delivery of project objectives. Quality Assurance & Documentation Review and sign off job packs, ensuring all documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with client and Onnec Group standards. Oversee and maintain documentation, including asset management, cable management, and project records. Conduct regular quality assurance (QA) checks and participate in audits, ensuring all operational controls are tested and documented gaps are tracked to remediation. Operations & Compliance Ensure compliance with all health & safety, quality, and security standards. Manage and track assets, oversee installations, decommissions, and moves within technology rooms. Supervise and QA all cabling installs, ensuring compliance with DCO standards. Support incident management, change control, and escalation processes as required. Additional Duties Provide support for job pack reviews, QA, and documentation upkeep. Be flexible to cover shifts at any location, including weekends and out-of-hours as required. Act as a mediator between supplier management, client contacts, and third parties, making service-affecting decisions as needed. Perform additional tasks as instructed by the client and/or Onnec Group Management. Experience & Qualifications Relevant experience in data centre operations, with proven experience in team workload management and project support. ITIL knowledge and experience preferred. Core DC operations certification (e.g., CDCTP) required or preferred. Experience in planning IMACs, resource allocation, and shift management. Strong documentation, QA, and audit skills. Excellent communication and client liaison abilities. Flexibility to cover all shifts and locations as required.
