The role
As a Specialist Haulage Transport Planner you will be responsible for planning of the loading and unloading of cargo and freight shipments whilst maintaining customer relationships, ensuring requirements and service levels are met from customer enquiries through to job completion. You will also have the opportunity to get involved in a variety of projects, all while sharing our culture and belief of health and safety being the number one priority.
Key responsibilities
* Raise accurate quotes for loading and unloading of cargo and road transport to ensure profitability of the department.
* Ensure all containers and cargo movements are correctly arranged and booked into and out of both internal and external systems ensuring costs are kept to a minimum.
* Arrange with customers pick up and collection of equipment / cargo as required to complete the job.
* Be a point of contact for any specialist haulage enquiries.
* Obtain and secure the best possible price for any purchases or service required.
* Ensure customer service levels with all customers are achieved to the minimum agreed targets.
* Finalise jobs on internal systems with revenue and costs to allow them to be processed for invoicing.
Requirements:
* Previous experience of working in shipping lines, port operations, haulage and /or container handling operations.
* Knowledge of Road Haulage.
* Attention to detail.
* Strong team player.
* Ability to prioritise and work well under pressure, whilst making key decisions.
It's great but not required, if you have:
* Specialist transport planning experience.
* General haulage / out of gauge movements knowledge.
* A working knowledge of TOPS, Port Container Systems for VBS booking.
