Role Overview
Our client has an opportunity for a Manufacturing Bid Lead to join on a 12‑month contract basis with possible extension. This role will generate manufacturing bids for industrial transfer packages, ensuring competitiveness, compliance and alignment with business and commercial criteria.
Location & Engagement
Location: Bolton, 2 days on site per week
Hours: 37 per week
Hourly Rate: £30‑£33 per hour via umbrella, inside IR35
Clearance: BPSS required before starting; full SC to follow
Responsibilities
* Generate manufacturing bids for industrial transfer packages, ensuring they are competitive, compliant and in line with all business and commercial criteria.
* Deliver industrial transfer projects or sub‑projects, ensuring they are delivered on agreed time, budget and quality. Review and report on progress regularly and intervene as necessary to resolve issues so that the project is delivered to plan.
* Ensure accurate reporting of progress against all aspects of project performance and interpret requirements back to manufacturing.
* Lead the manufacturing offload process, supporting manufacturing functions and project teams in identifying offload opportunities. Work closely with procurement functions (ISP‑S and MEP) in selecting suitable offload suppliers, generating business cases and maintaining governance of the process.
* Lead implementation of manufacturing industrial policy / strategy, ensuring alignment with new business pipelines and technology roadmaps.
* Manage stakeholder interfaces, including internal customers, and ensure accurate reporting of progress against all aspects of project performance.
* Support the new business team in identifying new business opportunities and developing approaches to winning business.
* Participate in developing, maintaining and modifying manufacturing processes and procedures in assigned areas in accordance with relevant standards, best practice and developing needs.
* Collect, summarise and present information or data, carrying out pre‑defined analyses, ensuring completeness and accuracy, and provide it to others for decision‑making.
* Actively participate in functional & strategic change activities, supporting best practice & functional excellence.
* Develop and maintain key relationships with internal customers and key subcontractors.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experienced project manager with a proven track record in delivering fixed‑cost programmes of significant value within a matrix organisation; experience in an engineering or production environment preferred.
* Experience working on complex bids with a proven record in generating costed proposals/manufacturing bids.
* Commercially astute; experience with cost models to generate costings for direct and indirect materials and other manufacturing costs.
* Strong presentation skills; able to produce and present bid packs / cost brochures using PowerPoint to senior management for approval.
* Ability to articulate costing approach and ensure evidence is collated for audit purposes.
* Experience communicating at a high level, interfacing with key stakeholders to respond to complex situations and influence function and wider business.
* Strong relationship building, experience working within multi‑functional teams and delivering in a timely manner.
* Enthusiastic, proactive and tenacious; able to prioritise and understand strategic business needs as well as managing day‑to‑day tactical decisions.
* Experience applying project management skills at assistant level in a relevant business environment.
