Job Description
We are looking for a SHE Manager to join Costain's Industrial Cooling Department based in Doncaster.
The scope of works for Costain Industrial Cooling Department activities includes: supply, installation, maintenance, repair, and performance monitoring of industrial cooling water systems, associated ancillary and pipework systems, and solutions for electrostatic precipitators. Operational areas cover the entire United Kingdom. The contract supports over 200 clients, mainly in the power, petrochemical, and manufacturing industries. Each project has an appointed Project Manager.
The SHEQ Manager will lead the company in meeting its obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and ISO standards (ISO45001, ISO14001, ISO9001). The role involves developing, implementing, and continuously improving the company's SHEQ management systems, aligning SHEQ efforts with senior management priorities, and fostering a culture of safety, quality, and sustainability.
This position requires close collaboration with the Industrial Cooling Director and team to provide expert advice and act as the 'competent person' for SHEQ. It is a hands-on role with both office-based and onsite work.
The role requires working 3 days a week in Doncaster, with travel to other sites as needed.
Responsibilities
* Support and influence contract leadership, clients, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with the SHEQ Management System and contract SHEQ performance.
* Assist with interpreting and implementing SHEQ-related legislation and standards, including conducting safety training and site inspections across multiple sites.
* Manage internal and external audit schedules, produce monthly dashboard analyses, and support the assessment of the contract's supply chain contractors, including completion of PPQs.
* Support the delivery of annual SHEQ objectives.
* Engage with the SHEQ assurance program to ensure statutory and company compliance.
* Investigate unplanned events, close out assurance findings, and share lessons learned.
* Support the reporting and analysis of SHEQ data to inform improvement strategies.
* Identify areas for improvement and lead initiatives to enhance SHEQ performance and culture across the business.
Qualifications
* At least 3 years of SHEQ-related experience
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent NVQ Level 6
* ISO 9001 Lead Auditor
* CSCS Managers or equivalent
* Graduate IOSH or AIEMA or equivalent
