Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the provision of a highly specialist, evidence based dietetic service to the patients treated with a spinal cord injury (SCI) across the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust (OUHT), and patients undergoing neurorehabilitation at the Oxford Centre of Enablement, Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford. This involves working as an integral member of both the Dietetic team and the multidisciplinary team to provide a flexible, prioritised service based on clinical need.
To act as a source of expertise for local dietetic, nursing and medical colleagues and nationally regarding the nutritional management of the identified patient group.
To educate, train and disseminate information to healthcare professionals including clinicians, nurses, allied health professionals, dietetic colleagues and students about the dietetic management of spinal cord injuries and neuro-rehabilitation patients.
The post holder will sit within the Spinal Cord Injury multidisciplinary team, based in the Oxford Centre of Enablement, as the lead dietitian for the SCI service and neurorehabilitation. They will also work closely with the adult and paediatric Dietetic Departments, providing education and expert support to dietetic colleagues and providing clinical cross-cover as required.
We anticipate this post being % clinical and % non-clinical with ~½ day protected time for service development, data collection and business case development.
