In this role, you will partner closely with the various UK business units to develop and implement indirect tax strategies, ensure compliance, and provide expert VAT advice. You will manage external advisors and lead tax projects, while fostering strong relationships across the organization. What you will be doing: Business partnering: - Collaborate with various business units to provide strategic tax advice and support. - Work closely with finance, legal, and operations teams to ensure tax strategies align with overall business objectives. - Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders to understand their needs and provide tailored tax solutions. - Participate in business planning and decision-making processes to offer insights on indirect tax implications. - Support mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions by providing tax due diligence and structuring advice as required. - Ensure indirect tax considerations are integrated into business initiatives and projects from the outset. - Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, providing clear and actionable tax guidance. Project work: - Lead and participate in tax-related projects, including system implementations and process improvements. - Manage cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery. Managing advisors: - Oversee relationships with external tax advisors and consultants. - Ensure effective communication and coordination with advisors to optimize tax positions. Tax Authority audits and correspondence: - Handle audits and correspondence with HMRC and other tax authorities. - Ensure timely and accurate responses to tax authority inquiries. Training and guidance: - Provide training and guidance to internal teams on VAT and other indirect tax matters. - Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and ensure the team is informed.
