Consultant Urological Surgeon
The closing date is 25 June 2026
We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our dynamic and progressive team. The post is a replacement full‑time post for a Consultant in Urology to undertake core urology with an opportunity to develop a specialist interest.
The Urology Service is delivered by 5 substantive consultant urologists and 2 locum consultant urologists managing elective and emergency care. There are 3 nurse practitioners, a newly appointed ward practitioner and 6 specific uro‑oncology nurses.
The department has access to a da Vinci XI surgical robot through the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group. The robot is installed at Northampton General Hospital as part of the long‑term plan to increase robotic‑assisted surgery across a wider range of specialties, including Urology at both Northampton and Kettering hospitals.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to work within a multidisciplinary team to provide management of elective and emergency urological conditions—including both benign and malignant conditions—and to support the Urology emergency service.
The appointee will also be expected to actively participate in reorganising and reshaping the department as it evolves in the new unit.
In addition to responsibilities for providing a comprehensive Urology service, the appointee will take part in the emergency rota.
