What you will be doing
You will join an inclusive, supportive team that works well together to provide care to people with learning disabilities and mental health conditions.
Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will use your excellent communication skills and experience as a Senior Support Worker with a background in Mental Health conditionsto provide care and support people through their care pathway.It can be quite a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience and vigilance are important. But it is hugely rewarding to see people improve because of you; being able to do something today that they couldn’t do last week.You will be working on a 3-4 days per week, including nights and weekends.
As a Team Leader you
1. Ideally have or working towards NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care
2. Have at least 2 years experience
3. Hold a valid UK driving licence (preferred to assist with community visits)
4. Have strong empathy and a caring and compassionate nature
5. Be willing to support residents with personal hygiene
6. Have excellent people and communication skills, and a good sense of humour
7. Be able to deal with challenging behaviours
8. Have a positive and professional approach
9. Be reliable, flexible, hard-working and honest
10. Be local or within commutable distance
You must live in the UK and have the Right to Work in the UK full time. 20-hour Student and Skilled Worker Visa's cannot be accepted.
Where you will be working
You will be working at the Gateway Recovery Centre, a state-of-the-art facility, providing care for men and women with complex mental health requirements to reduce risk behaviours associated with mental health conditions so that people in your care can ultimately live successful and fulfilling lives within the community.
The service is split into four distinct areas:
11. Male Autism Service for the challenging and complex needs of adults with Autism and Asperger’s syndrome
12. Assessment and rehabilitation for women with complex mental health needs and personality difficulties
13. Specialist inpatient service for older men with complex mental health and physical health needs
14. Low secure care setting for men with a mental illness with or without personality disorder/mild learning disabilities
